GHATCA committed to air safety

Accra, Oct. 19, GNA – The Ghana Air Traffic Controllers Association (GHATCA), has reiterated its commitment to ensuring safety and efficiency in the Accra Flight Information Region, which consists of the air spaces of Ghana, Togo and Benin.

The Association said it had achieved an enviable safety record in the Flight Information Region, which had been possible with the financial and political commitment of the Government of Ghana.

This was contained in a release issued by GHATCA and signed by Mr. M.B. Atoklo, Executive Vice-President of GHATCA, in commemoration of the International Air Traffic Controllers’ Day, which falls tomorrow October 20, 2004.

There release said the Board of Directors and Management of Ghana Civil Aviation Authority (GCAA) had been pillars of support to the air traffic control profession in Ghana and commended the co-operation and dedication of the various support services within the GCAA towards GHATCA’s competence and efficiency.

The International Air Traffic Controllers’ Day was instituted by the International Federation of Air Traffic Controllers Associations of, which GHATCA had been affiliated since 1973.

It is a day on which the searchlight is also beamed on some topical issues in the aviation industry.
