Kufuor ends tour of Upper West Region

Wa, Oct. 19, GNA – President John Agyekum Kufuor on Tuesday ended his three-day official tour of the Upper West Region with a call on the people to exhibit a high level of objectivity and honesty in choosing a leader for the country.

He said the performance of every human being, including politicians was under the strict scrutiny of the public who had the mandate to accept or reject them based on their performance.

“I will not tell you to vote for me against your will but the choice is for you to assess and know whether our performance has lived up to your expectations in the first four years.”

During his stay in the region the President inspected on-going projects throughout the region, commissioned completed ones, and announced the commencement of others.

The President also addressed durbars at Lawra, Jirapa, Nadowli, Zini, Gwollu, Tumu, Wellembelle, Funsi, Kojokpere, Issa, Wa and Wechiau cutting across all the eight districts of the region. He also appealed to the people all over the region to pay attention to the education on their children.

President Kufuor also addressed students at the Wa Campus at the University of Development Studies, Wa Seminary, Wa Polytechnic and inspected educational projects at the new UDS site. During the tour Nana Akufo-Addo, Minister of Foreign Affairs, Professor Kasim Kasanga, Minister of Science and Environment, Mr Sahanun Mogtari, Upper West Regional Minister and Alhaji Bin-Saleh, Member of the Council of State accompanied the President.

The rest were Mr. Ambrose Dery, Deputy Minister of Justice and Attorney General, Mr. Clement Eledi, Deputy Minister of Food and Agriculture.

The tour also enabled the President to assess the performance of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) in the region. 19 Oct. 04
