Teachers call for enhanced SSNIT Pension Scheme

Gyakiti (E/R), Oct 18, GNA- The Asuogyaman District Director of Education, Mrs Juliana Ayeh-Gyampo, has called for upward review of the Social Security and National Insurance Trust (SSNIT) Pension Scheme for it to level up with conditions enjoyed under the CAP 30 Pension Scheme. She called on the Ghana National Association of Teachers (GNAT) to fight for better conditions of service for teachers, including salary advance, housing loan and sponsorship package for teachers to develop their skills, especially, those working in deprived areas of the country.

This was contained in a speech read on her behalf at the World Teachers Day celebration by the Asuogyaman Branch of the GNAT at Gyakiti at the weekend.

Mrs Aye-Gyampo told teachers to be patient and work diligently to improve upon education to justify their demand for better conditions of service.

The Eastern Regional Chairman of GNAT, Mr Solomons Djaba-Mensah called for the re-introduction of the CAP-30.

The Headmaster of Akwamuman Secondary School, Mr Felix Essah-Hienno, appealed to the Presidential Commission on Pension to support the call by the TUC for a living wage.
