Ministry commends scholarship donors

Accra, Oct. 18, GNA- The Ministry of Education, Youth and Sports on Monday commended organisations that have, over the years and in recent weeks offered scholarships to children and wards of their workers.

In a statement signed by Mr Dan Osman Mwin, Public Relations Officer of the Ministry, the Ministry commended, in particular the Ghana Mineworkers Union (GMU), of the Trade Union Congress (TUC) for instituting an educational fund with initial deposit of 200 million cedis to benefit about 50 brilliant children and wards of the Union members from September, this year.

It said the Ministry was gladdened that Golden Tulip Accra (GTA) has also offered scholarships to 22 new entrants to primary, secondary and tertiary institutions this year, bringing to 67, the number of staff children benefiting from the GTA’s scholarship programme since it was instituted in 2000.

The Ministry extolled these organisations and entreated the beneficiaries to work hard and reciprocate the sweat and toil of their parents and guardians, who made the scholarships possible.
