Ben Nii Annan re-elected AMA Presiding Member

Accra, Oct.13, GNA – Mr Ben Nii Ablorh Annan, Presiding Member of the Accra Metropolitan Assembly (AMA) was on Wednesday re-elected to serve another two-year term.

He polled 72 votes out of 99 ballots to beat his challenger, Mrs Bennie Brown Nuamah, an Assembly Member for Osu, Kaajanor Electoral Area, who got 24 votes, while one ballot was declared invalid. Ms Lawrencia Kpatakpa, Acting Greater Accra Director of the Electoral Commission (EC), supervised the election. In his acceptance speech, Mr Ben Annan thanked the Members of the Assembly for reposing their trust in him.

He called for tolerance and respect among members to ensure smooth deliberations at the Assembly.

He also promised to work hard to ensure that all allowances due them were paid.

Mr Stanley Nii Agyiri Blankson, AMA Chief Executive, thanked the members for the matured and democratic manner in which they conducted themselves during the voting.

He congratulated Mr Annan on his re-election and thanked Mrs Nuamah for accepting the results.
