Atta-Mills formally nominates Mumuni as Running mate

Accra, Oct.11, GNA – Professor John Evans Atta-Mills, Presidential Candidate of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) on Sunday formally nominated Alhaji Muhammad Mumuni as his Vice Presidential Candidate for Election 2004 when he signed the nomination forms from the Electoral Commission (EC).

Alhaji Mumuni accepted the nomination when he also signed the forms in his hospital room at the Korle-Bu Teaching Hospital, where he is recuperating after under-going surgery following a car accident he had about a fortnight ago.

A statement issued in Accra on Monday and signed by Mr Rojo Mettle-Nunoo, Communications Director of the NDC Presidential Campaign Centre, said Alhaji Mumuni looking hale and hearty thanked Professor Atta-Mills for the honour.

It said Alhaji Mumuni, who is also the MP for Kumbungu, promised to hold high the banner of the NDC and expressed the hope that he would be out of hospital soon to join the NDC Campaign Trail. The statement said a delegation of chiefs from the Kumbungu Traditional Area was present at the time he signed the forms.
