Tema, Oct 09, GNA — The Tema Circuit Court ‘B’ has remanded a 20 year-old accounts clerk of the Church of Pentecost Preparatory School in Tema who embezzled two million cedis and set his office ablaze to cover up the deed.
Felix Nsiah Kwakye, who pleaded guilty to charges of stealing and unlawfully causing harm, will reappear on October 11, 2004. Chief Inspector Edith Nutakor told the court that on October 5 the accused was informed that internal auditors of the Pentecost Church would audit him.
She said on October 7, Kwakye went to the school at about 0310 hours and met the security guard.
Since there was darkness due to power outage he requested for touch light from the security guard but he refused.
Few moments later the security guard heard a blast from the direction of the office and when he rushed there with some members of the church they found that the accused had set his office ablaze and absconded. He was arrested in the morning when he reported for duty
