Two remanded for stealing plastic chairs

Tema, Oct. 7, GNA- A truck pusher and a trader who stole plastic chairs after a funeral celebration at Oninku Park at Tema Community One, have been remanded by the Tema Circuit Court ‘B’.

Mashid Ali and Maatinal Mohammed, pleaded not guilty to conspiracy and stealing, and will re-appear on Wednesday, October 13.

Police Chief Inspector Alice Gyamfi told the court that on September 26, this year, the Browns family at Tema organised a funeral for their late father at the Oninku School Park.

Chief Inspector Gyamfi said after the funeral, the over 1,000 plastic chairs they hired were short by 154, and they later had information that some of the chairs were being sold by the accused persons.

The prosecution stated that a report was made to the police and when the police entered their house they were found to be using 13 of the chairs.

Chief Inspector Gyamfi said the accused persons mentioned one Agbe Zaku as the one who gave them the chairs, but could not lead the police to arrest him.

After interrogation they were charged, the prosecution said.
