Atekyedo community appeals for pipe-borne water

Atekyedo (C/R) Oct. 6 GNA- Madam Adgoa Duah, an opinion leader at Atekyedo near Winneba, has appealed to the Ghana Water Company Limited (GWCL) to extend pipe-borne water to the village and its surrounding communities.

Making the appeal through the Ghana News Agency at Atekyedo, Madam Duah expressed concern that although the Ayensu river which is the major source of water supply to the GWCL, lie very close to the village, the people had no access to treated water.

“It is very painful that for over 20 years the people of Atekyedo are still fetching untreated water from a stream.”

Madam Duah said the people were eager to offer communal labour towards the extension of water to the community.

The District Manager of the GWCL, Mr. John Mensah said lack of funds was hampering the extension of water to the village and surrounding communities.
