Eleven people die on the spot in an accident

Adiembra (Ash), Oct 6, GNA – Eleven people died on the spot at the weekend when a Ford bus on which they were travelling from Kumasi to Bibiani collided with a Metro Mass Transport bus near Adiembra. The driver of the Ford bus was among the dead and had not yet been identified.

Five people, who were seriously injured are on admission at the Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital (KATH) in Kumasi.

Briefing the Ghana News Agency at Adiembra, Mr Raphael Dan Mensah, Inspector in-charge of the Adiembra Police Post, said the driver overtook a vehicle in front of it.

The driver, he said, then immediately saw a big pothole ahead and in an attempt to avoid it, swerved unto the lane of the on-coming Mass Metro bus heading towards Kumasi and they collided head on.

Inspector Mensah said the dead had been deposited at KATH for autopsy and appealed to people whose relatives travelled that day from Kumasi to Bibiani to contact the Adiembra police for identification and collection of their dead relatives.
