Four NPP Executives Expelled

Four Executive members of the Asante Akim South constituency of the New Patriotic Party have been expelled from the party after being accused of rooting for an independent parliamentary candidate in the December general election against the party’s elected candidate, Mrs. Gifty Ohene Konadu.

A statement jointly signed by the Constituency Chairman, Nana Asante Gyeabour and the Secretary, Robert Kwabena Ofori named the dismissed members as Mr. Adjei Twum, Assistant Secretary, Mr. Opari Antwi, Treasurer, Madam Emma Afriyie, Women’s Organizer and Mr. Daniel Baah Sekyere, a Polling Station Executive of Bompata Zone.

According to Mr. Ofori, the regional NPP Secretariat, the parliamentary candidate and the DCE have been notified of the action against the four members.

Ofori further told The Chronicle in an interview that the expulsion of the members was in line with article 3 of the party’s constitution, which states that any member of the party who declares support for another political party automatically forfeits his membership of the party.

Constituency Chairman Nana Gyeabour also stated that they would not be accepted back to the party. A decision to this effect would be taken after the elections, he told The Chronicle.
