Police say Nana Akua Addo’s husband will face court after hospital discharge

The husband of Ghanaian actress and media personality Rosemond Akua Adobea, popularly known as Nana Akua Addo, is expected to be arraigned over alleged domestic abuse after he leaves hospital, the Ghana Police Service has said.

Harold Norman was due to appear before a court on Wednesday, October 7, but his lawyer told investigators that he had been admitted to hospital and could not attend.

The Criminal Investigations Department (CID) said officers from the Domestic Violence and Victim Support Unit (DOVVSU) visited the hospital to verify the claim and were monitoring his condition.

“Investigators from DOVVSU have visited the said hospital to verify the claim and are monitoring the situation to ensure he is arraigned immediately upon discharge from the hospital,” the CID said in a statement signed by its Public Relations Officer, Chief Inspector Francis Kwesi Yeboah.

The case follows a petition submitted by Nana Akua Addo to the Director-General of the CID on August 20, 2026. In it, she alleged that her husband had subjected her to physical, emotional and economic abuse.

Police said preliminary investigations also found that a previous case involving the couple had been dealt with by DOVVSU at the Lakeside and Ministries Police Stations in July 2026.

Following the latest petition, Mr Norman was arrested at his residence on August 27 to assist with the investigation. He later gave a caution statement and was released on police enquiry bail on August 29, with two sureties, while inquiries continued.

The Police Service said the court appearance had been scheduled as part of the ongoing process, but was postponed because of his hospital admission.

The CID also said it was working with the Minister for Gender, Children and Social Protection to ensure social welfare services were made available to the woman and her children.

The Ghana Police Service reiterated its commitment to protecting people affected by domestic violence and investigating complaints brought before it in a professional and fair manner.
