Koforidua (B/A), Oct. 5 GNA – Mr Forkuo Agyeman, Head-teacher of the local primary school at Koforidua in the Nkoranza District of Brong Ahafo has called on community leaders to encourage parents to enroll their children in the school.
Mr Agyeman told Ghana News Agency at Koforidua that some settler farmers were fond of withdrawing their children from the school anytime they wished and this had greatly affected enrolment in the school.
“With the introduction of the Pilot Programmatic Scheme (PPS) programme in the district in which all children in basic schools are to enjoy fee-free education for five years, every parent in the area should take advantage of it to educate their children”, he said.
He appealed to the unit committee to organize a forum to educate the settler farmers to send their children to school and retain them in the school as well.
Mr Agyeman expressed appreciation for the efforts of the Parent-Teacher Association of the school in supporting the teachers. Mr Agyeman commended the Nkoranza District Assembly for providing a classroom block for the local kindergarten.
He commended his staff for their cooperation and enthusiasm to work and asked them to work harder to help improve the performance of the students.
The head-teacher paid special tribute to the PTA chairman, Mr Yahaya Mohammed for his regular visits to the school to interact with the teachers to know their problems and urged other parents to follow his example.
