Ghana-South Africa to collaborate on NEPAD Initiative

Accra, Oct. 5, GNA – Ghana and South Africa are to collaborate on the New Partnership for Africa’s Development Programme (NEPAD) Initiative to ensure that the benefits of NEPAD affects the lives of their peoples positively and productively.

Dr Kofi Konadu Apraku, Minister for Regional Cooperation and NEPAD, who announced this in Accra on Tuesday said, “Ghana is implementing the NEPAD Initiative and very soon Ghanaians would begin to see the tangible benefits of the Programme”.

A statement issued by the Ministry and signed by Ahmed Osumanu Halid, Media Relations Officer, said Dr Apraku announced this when Mr Rapu Molekane South African High Commissioner in Ghana paid a courtesy call on him.

Dr Apraku said Ghana was willing to learn from the South African experience especially in the area of linking the private sector in the NEPAD programme.

He urged Mr Molekane to liaise with the South African business community to establish a Ghana-South Africa Business Forum on NEPAD. Dr Apraku pledged the Government’s commitment to transparent, free, fair and peaceful elections in December.

Mr Molekane said South Africa was ready to share its experience with Ghana in investments and promotion of the NEPAD Initiative.
