Pupil-Teachers told to respect code

Ahomahomasu (E/R), Sept. 26, GNA – Pupil Teachers have been asked to respect the code of ethics of the teaching profession as long as they remained with the profession or have their appointment terminated. The Fanteakwa District Training Officer, Mr Maxwell Asem, made the call at the end of a two-day in-service training workshop for pupil teachers in the Begoro district at Ahomahomasu to up-grade their teaching skills.

The workshop was organized by the District Education Office and topics treated included “Reading and writing skills”, “Code of ethics of the teaching profession”, “Terms and condition of service” and “Guidance and counseling”.

Mr Asem advised pupil teachers who wish to remain permanently in the profession to take advantage of the Distance Education Programme and enroll for training to become professional teachers.

The Assistant Director of Education for Finance and Administration, Mr Ntori Adjabeng, asked them to use teaching and learning materials regularly in their lessons to enhance their delivery.

He asked them to eschew laziness and other social vices that would tarnish the image of the profession.

The Headmaster of the Ahomahomasu JSS, Mr George Agbenyo, appealed to the Ghana Education Service (GES) to post trained teachers to JSS in the rural areas, noting that lack of trained teachers in the rural JSS had contributed to low academic performance of pupils.
