Begoro, Sept. 25, GNA – A one-day workshop on Computerized Schools Selection and Placement System (CSSPS) for Circuit Supervisors and Headmasters of Junior Secondary Schools (JSS) in Fanteakwa was held at Begoro on Wednesday.
The workshop was aimed at introducing the participants to the new method of computerized selection of JSS graduates into Senior Secondary Schools (SSS), being introduced by the Ghana Education Service (GES), which comes into effect next year.
Mr Mike Ansah Yeboah, Fanteakwa District Deputy Director of Education, said the CSSPS system would replace the manual mode of the selection of Junior Secondary School (JSS) graduates into SSS. He also said the new system would dwell solely with the “raw marks” obtained by candidates in order of merit, thereby replacing the current system that rely on aggregates results for selection of students. Mr Yeboah asked Headmasters of JSS to confer with parents before filling Basic Education Certificate Examination Registration and Entry forms to avoid making mistakes on the documents.
The participants commended the GES for introducing the new system, which they noted, would eliminate protocol admissions and ensure equity, transparency and efficiency in admission to SSS.
