Lightening hits two girls at Bondaye, one dead

Bondaye (W/R), Sept. 24, GNA – Two girls were struck by lightening,

killing one instantly at Bondaye near Prestea on Wednesday. Superintendent Kwadwo Oppong, Prestea District Police Commander, told the Ghana News Agency (GNA) Bondaye that the two girls aged 12 and below were going to fetch water in the evening when the lightening struck them.

Supt. Oppong said a taxi driver, who rushed the girls to hospital said, the two were helplessly lying on the road and he (the taxi driver) picked them to hospital.

Dr. Kennedy Azantilow, the medical officer in-charge of Government Hospital, Prestea said one of the girls died before reaching the hospital.

Narrating what happened after gaining consciousness, the other victim said they (the two girls) were going to fetch water when something like fire flashed on her eyes and she did not see anything again. Dr. Azantilow said the girl has since been treated and discharged.
