Hohoe District receives sanitation prize award

Hohoe (V/R), Sept. 24, GNA – The Hohoe District Assembly on Thursday received its prize award of sanitary items worth over 30 million cedis from the Ministry of Local Government and Rural Development (MLGRD) for emerging the third Cleanest Town in the country, in the “Third National Sanitation Week” celebration.

The items included, wheelbarrows, litterbins, Wellington boots, rakes, Shovels, cutlasses, hand gloves, nose masks, slashes, bass and sweeping brooms.

Mr James Dogbe, the District Chief Executive said the items would facilitate the maintenance and sustenance of environmental cleanliness to enable the district win gold, come next year.

He noted that if “cleanliness was next to Godliness”, then the onus should not be on the Assembly alone and urged households to exercise good hygienic practices at all levels to make the task an easy one. Mr Dogbe said the Assembly spends over 100 million cedis on the sector annually.

Bolgatanga and Nkoranza districts picked gold and silver respectively in the competition, staged at Sunyani in the Brong Ahafo Region recently.
