Ghanaian students get Cuban Scholarships

Accra, Sept. 24, GNA – The Embassy of the Republic of Cuba on Friday organised a send-off party for six Ghanaian students who would be travelling to Cuba on Saturday to begin their four-year higher education studies. The six would join 37 other Ghanaians students who are already in Cuba studying various courses.

The students with the disciplines names are; Hickman Kanton, 21-Psychology, Adu Kweku Isaac, 22 – Law, and Asiedu Isaac, 21 – Information Science,

The rest are Isaac Yaw Asare, 18 – Civil Engineering, Ligbi Basha, 20 – Pharmaceutical Science, Edward Wrassor, 25 -Telecommunications, while Esther Asabea, International Sports had left earlier in August because her course opened earlier than the others.

Speaking at the ceremony, Mr. Lucas Domingo Hernandez Polledo, Cuban Ambassador to Ghana commended Ghanaian students for their hard work and good sense of discipline over their years in Cuba.

He said despite the lies and act of aggression and the US trade embargo on his country “Cuba’s prestige goes from strength to strength”. “Our economy continues to recover and our society advances in all fronts; at the same time we have continued to create the bases for future development” he said.

Mr Dan Adama, Schedule Officer for Cuban Scholarship Awards of the Scholarship Secretariat thanked the Cuban government for her continued support to the country.

He also urged the students to come back after their four year studies to help build the economy with their acquired knowledge.
