Renovation of block brings relief to Beposo pupils.

Beposo (Ash), Sept 22, GNA-There is now joy and relief among the 250 pupils and teachers of the Beposo Roman Catholic Primary School in the Bosomtwe-Atwima-Kwanwoma District following the successful completion of the first-ever renovation works on the school’s nine-classroom block built over 60 years ago.

Decades of neglect had left the structure in an awful shape as the walls and ceiling were falling apart with gaping cracks on the floors of the classrooms and the veranda.

Nana Asare Appiah, the Nkosuohene of the town, single-handedly provided the 31 million cedis funding that had given it a new lease of life.

At a ceremony to officially hand over the block on Tuesday, Nana Appiah noted that the very conditions under which classes were held could influence the academic performance of pupils. He said it was in recognition of this that he took it upon himself the task of helping to improve on the physical structures of schools in the town.

In addition to the primary, he has financed the painting of the Junior Secondary School (JSS) block.

Nana Kankam Boadu Apenteng II, Beposohene, paid glowing tribute to the Nkosuohene for his initiative, selflessness and tremendous contribution towards bringing progress to the community. The chief told his people to learn from the example of Nana Appiah and do their bit to help move the town forward.

Meanwhile, a 90 million-cedi aqua-privy sanitation facility built for the town with funds from members of a society within the Catholic Church in New York, United States, has been inaugurated. The Reverend Father Andrews Addai, the Parish Priest, said Christianity was not only about preaching against evil and winning souls but social service to the people.

The church was therefore, concerned about getting good drinking water, building schools, health and sanitation facilities to promote the physical well-being of the people. Sept. 22 04
