Heavy rains disrupt vehicular movement in Ho

Aflao, Sept. 21, GNA – A creek had over flown a culvert some 200 metres away from the Volta Regional Hospital in Ho a result of heavy rains, disrupting vehicular movement on the Ho-Aflao trunk road for hours on Monday evening.

When the Ghana News Agency visited the scene, scores of agitated passengers from Ho, most of them returning from the Ho Market were waiting for the swift flowing waters from the east to subside to enable vehicles to continue their journey.

A mini bus, which attempted driving through the waters was carried off the road and dumped in a shallow pathway of the creek. Eyewitnesses said there were no casualties.

There were two other overflows of water over culverts between Ho and Akwetey on the Ho-Aflao trunk road.

Stranded commercial drivers who plied the route said they expected the speed of the flow across the street to reduce in an hour or two. On Monday, Ho and its environs experienced a similar heavy down pour.
