Nwabiagya Rural Bank spends 100 million cedis on school

Barekese (Ash), Sept. 21, GNA – The Nwabiagya Rural Bank has spent over 100 million cedis to provide infrastructure, science equipments and furniture for the newly established secondary school at Barekese in the Atwima District of Ashanti.

It has also renovated the old basic school block into classrooms and has also converted another three classrooms pavilion into an administrative block.

Nana Owusu-Sarfoh Anwona, chairman of the Board of Directors of the bank disclosed this on Monday when he led Mr Eddy Obeng-Darko, the District Director of Education to inspect facilities and other infrastructure at the new school.

The bank, he said, has constructed access roads to the school premises and plans were also well advanced to extend electricity and other utilities to the school.

Nana Owusu-Sarfoh announced that the bank has awarded scholarships to 22 out of the over 120 newly admitted form one students who obtained between aggregates six and 14 for the three-year course.

He said Consar Ghana Limited, a stone quarrying company at Barekese is putting up a four-unit bungalow for the headmaster and other tutors of the school at estimated cost of one billion cedis.

The Atwima District Assembly has also released 100 million cedis out of the 200 million cedis pledged to facilitate the provision of other infrastructure in the school.

Nana Owusu-Sarfoh said the bank is committed to its social responsibilities within its catchment’s areas and the school will serve the educational needs of Nwabiagya constituency, Offinso, Bohyen, Abrepo and other parts of Atwima.

Mr Obeng-Darko expressed satisfaction with the infrastructure and the preparation made so far and promised to assist meaningfully for its take off.
