Assin South Assembly receives more than six billion cedis

Nsuaem-Kyekyewere (C/R), Sept 21, GNA – The newly created Assin South District Assembly has so far received more than six billion cedis under the District Assembly Common Fund (DACF) and the HIPC relief fund for development projects in the area.

The assembly received 4,864,000,000.00 cedis as part of its share of the DACF while two billion cedis was allocated to it under the HIPC fund.

Mr Isaac Edumadze, the Central Regional Minister, said this at a special meeting of the assembly at Nsuaem on Monday. He said the bulk of the funds allocated to the district would be used to provide classroom blocks, clinics, boreholes, feeder roads, electricity and toilets.

Mr Edumadze, who is also the acting District Chief Executive, said the assembly’s recurrent budget has been prepared to cover five months and that it was a performance budget intended to assess the revenue base of the district in order to prepare a comprehensive budge for next year. He said the assembly was expected to generate 104,830,00.00 cedis from its internal sources within five months and that the budget was being supported with 100 million cedis from the Assin North District and 200 million cedis from the Ministry of Local Government and Rural Development.
