Plot Number 1
THE authorities of the KNUST, in consultation with the Ashanti Regional Minister, Mr S. K. Boafo, refused to allow the NDC to use the Great Hall as the venue for the launch of its manifesto on July 31, 2004. The NDC was told that the Hall is no longer used for political party events. Yet, the NPP was allowed the use of the Hall last week.
Plot Number 2
Last week, former President Jerry John Rawlings went on a tour of parts of the Central Region. When he arrived at Dunkwa-on-Offin, electricity supply was cut. Ghana Palaver can confirm that this was on instruction of the Central Regional Minister, Isaac Edumadze. Alternate arrangements for power were however made by the NDC organizers forcing Edumadze and his co-conspirators to abandon the plan in other areas, where the former President visited.
Plot Number 3
Last week, out of the blue, Mr Dua Agyeman, the Auditor-General, caused to be published in the media a baseless allegation that proceeds from the sale of government shares of Ashanti Goldfields in 1994 has not been accounted for.
Ghana Palaver can confirm that prior to the publication, Mr Dua Agyeman had instructed staff of the Auditor-General’s Department to furnish him with audited reports from 1996-2000. He personally carried them to the Castle, where he joined a high-powered team which included Kwabena Agyepong, Press Secretary to President Kufuor and Mr Francis Poku, National Security Co-Ordinator. Extracts from the audited reports have since been made to selected pro-NPP media in a new smear campaign on Prof. Atta Mills and the NDC.
Plot Number 4
The Ghana Palaver can also confirm that a copy of the draft report of the National Reconciliation Commission (NRC) has been sent to the Castle for vetting.
Plot Number 5
Metropolitan, Municipal and District Chief Executives have been instructed to prevent the NDC from mounting billboards and displaying its posters. In the face of mounting discontent and loss of popularity, the President Mr J. A. Kufuor and his NPP, are using dirty tricks in the hope of winning the December 2004 elections.
