Rehabilitation work on Nsawam town roads begins

Nsawam, Sept. 20, GNA – The resurfacing and expansion of 2.4 kilometres of roads in the Nsawam Township estimated to cost 1.8 billion cedis has began.

In addition the 9.2 kilometre road from Nsawam to Pakro and Mangoese is to be reconstructed.

The Ghana Government is funding the road projects Mr. Kwaku Frimpong Kumah, Managing Director of Firmstar Company Limited, the company undertaking the Nsawam town roads rehabilitation announced this when he took the Ghana News Agency to inspect the project.

He said the first phase of the street from Wofa Paye to the Anglican School had been completed while the whole project was expected to be completed by the end of the year.

Mr. Frimpong Kumah said the completion of the roads would facilitate transportation of people and farm produce from the area to the cities and other urban areas.

Nana Bow Ababio II, Regent of Nsawam, commended the Government for awarding the roads on contract, saying, “for more than 22 years the streets in the township had not seen any rehabilitation, let alone gutters.”
