Auctioneer elected PNC parliamentary candidate for Asawasi

Kumasi, Sept 20, GNA- Mr Thomas Atigah, a 53-year-old Auctioneer and farmer, has been elected by popular acclamation as the parliamentary candidate of the People’s National Convention (PNC), for Asawasi in Kumasi.

Mr Atigah, who is also the Ashanti Regional Secretary of the PNC, was the first to be elected in the Region at a delegates’ conference. He thanked the delegates’ for confidence reposed in him. Mr Atigah attributed the defeat of the PNC in past General Election to lack of effective organisation and expressed optimism that the opposition Party would win the 2004 elections through pragmatic strategies.

Mr Samuel Owusu-Afriyie, the Kumasi Metropolitan Electoral Officer in charge of Asawasi, Oforikrom and Asokwa, asked eligible voters who have not completed the process of getting their names into the Voters’ Register to do so before the end of September, to be able to exercise their franchise.
