Court remands two men for highway robbery

Tema, Sept. 20, GNA — The Tema Circuit Court ‘B’, has remanded two persons in custody for allegedly attacking a driver’s mate at the Accra-Tema Motorway and robbed him of two heavy- duty batteries.

The plea of Anthony Boampong, a Driver and George Quainoo, a labourer, were not taken, and they will re-appear on Thursday, September 30.

Prosecuting, Police Inspector Ben Agbedanu, told the Court presided over by Mr Stephen Teye, that on September 1, 2004 the mate was guarding a truck loaded with the batteries when the two accused persons and their accomplices, now at large, attacked him and made away with the stolen goods.

Inspector Agbedanu said the complainant made a report to the Ashaiman police, which led to the arrest of the two accused persons.
