Hairdressers and Beauticians association inaugurated

Aflao, Sept 19, GNA – Miss Annie Sapati, Director of the Ketu District Secretariat of the National Commission for Civic Education (NCCE), has appealed to Ghanaians, no matter their political leanings, to attend campaign rallies of every political party in the country. She said such a broad exposure to the varying campaign messages would enable all citizens to scrutinize the manifestoes of the parties so as to make informed choices when voting during this year’s elections.

Miss Sapati said this during the inauguration of the Aflao branch of the Ghana Hairdressers and Beauticians Association (GHABA), a unit of the Industrial and Commercial Workers Union (ICU) of the Trade Union Congress (TUC) at Aflao.

She told the people to be involved in every aspect of the electioneering process, including the voter register exhibitions to make sure they have their names on the register.

Miss Sapati cautioned against attack on political opponents and destruction of party campaign materials of opposing parties, as well as vote buying and selling.

“Accept the bags of rice, corn and the money anybody will influence you with, but maintain your stand and vote according to your conscience”, Miss Sapati said.

She called for tolerance and discipline from everybody to allow peace to reign in the country.

Togbui Amenya Fiti V, the Paramount Chief of the Aflao Traditional Area, advised GHABA members to avail themselves of adult learning programmes to further their education to erase the perception that the profession is for dropouts.

He said education would also make them understand the complexities in the application of chemical they use in their work to ensure good health for their clients.

Togbui Fiti called for a downward review of training fees and graduation programmes to make the process more affordable for the youth.
