Security Man remanded for taking others hostage.

Tema, Sept. 16, GNA — A security man who robbed a company on the Spintex road of 28 million cedis, with nine others now at large, after taking security men of the company hostage, has been remanded by the Tema Circuit Court ‘B’. Siibu Baba Ibrahim, the security man, pleaded not guilty to the charge, and will re-appear on Thursday, September 23. Police Chief Inspector Alice Gyamfi told the court, presided over by Mr Stephen Teye that on the midnight of September 1, the accused person and his accomplices, attacked Pepso Ghana Company Limited on the Spintex road.

Chief Inspector Gyamfi said they assaulted two security men of the company after taking them hostage. The prosecution said the robbers forced and entered the offices of the company, ransacked them and made away with 28 million cedis. She said after the robbers had left, the two security men were rushed to the 37 Military Hospital for treatment. Chief Inspector Gyamfi said a report was made to Sakumono police, and upon a tip-off, the accused person was arrested. Investigations into the case were still on-going for the arrest of the rest of the robbers.
