GAF Sets Up Board of Inquiry After Deadly Stampede

The Ghana Armed Forces (GAF) has temporarily suspended its recruitment exercise in Greater Accra following a tragic stampede at the El-Wak Sports Stadium on Wednesday, November 12, 2025, which claimed six lives and left several others injured.

In a statement, GAF said the pause will allow for the implementation of enhanced safety measures to ensure the smooth and secure conduct of the exercise.

“A Board of Inquiry has been constituted to investigate the circumstances surrounding this unfortunate incident,” the statement added.

GAF clarified that recruitment activities in the other 15 regions will proceed as planned.

The Armed Forces extended their condolences to the families of the deceased and the affected applicants, while assuring the public that new dates for the Greater Accra recruitment will be announced once the Board of Inquiry completes its work.
