Mampong NDC picks parliamentary candidate

Kofiase (Ash), Sept 09, GNA – The Asante-Mampong constituency of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) has elected Mr Daniel Apau Ohyeamang, 52, a businessman, as the party’s candidate to contest the parliamentary seat in the December polls.

Mr Ohyeamang, the sole candidate, was unanimously elected as all the 82 delegates cast their votes for him at the congress held at Kofiase near Mampong and supervised by the Electoral Commission (EC). Mr Ohyeamang expressed his appreciation to the delegates and promised to live up to the task ahead to win the seat.

The candidate-elect, who is also the constituency chairman of the NDC, said “history is in the making as I am poised to wrestle the seat which had been dominated by the NPP.”

Mr Ohyeamang said political parties might differ in ideology and approach to issues but they have a common goal of improving the socio-economic status of the people and therefore urged the party activists to foster peace before, during and after the general elections.

He said if elected he would lobby for funds for the construction of a water reservoir at the Mampong District Hospital to help solve the hospital’s the perennial water shortage problem.

“I will also ensure that the road linking Krobo to Kofiase, which had defied all construction attempts, is tarred to facilitate farming and other economic activities”.

Mr Otu Babwye, NDC parliamentary candidate-elect for the Nsuta-Kwamang-Beposo constituency, said the NPP had failed to deliver on its campaign promises and therefore urged the electorate to vote it out of power in December.
