Ghana head coach Otto Addo has announced his squad for this month’s international friendlies in Asia, where the Black Stars will face Japan and South Korea in the Kirin Challenge Cup.
The team, which features a blend of Europe-based regulars and emerging talents, will take on Japan on 14 November at the Toyota Stadium in Aichi before travelling to Seoul to meet South Korea on 18 November.
Among the headline selections is Union Berlin defender Derrick Kohn, who recently completed his nationality switch and is set for his first involvement with the Black Stars. Mohammed Salisu, Gideon Mensah, Alidu Seidu and Caleb Yirenkyi strengthen the defensive unit, while St. Gallen goalkeeper Lawrence Ati Zigi returns between the sticks alongside Joseph Anang and Benjamin Asare.
In midfield, Addo has included Toulouse’s Abu Francis, Real Oviedo’s Kwasi Sibo, and Atalanta winger Kamal Deen Sulemana, complemented by the in-form Christopher Bonsu Baah of Al-Qadsiah.
The forward line sees a mix of domestic and overseas talent, with Medeama’s Kelvin Nkrumah joining Prince Osei Owusu from, Coventry City striker Brandon Thomas-Asante, AFC Bournemouth’s Antoine Semenyo and Viktoria Plzen’s Prince Adu Kwabena.
The fixtures offer Ghana an important opportunity to test new combinations and build momentum ahead of next year’s competitive assignments. Addo has emphasised the significance of these games in shaping the team’s long-term direction, particularly as new faces push for permanent places in the squad.
