Accra Hearts of Oak have issued a formal apology following the disorderly scenes that marred the end of their 1-0 defeat to Asante Kotoko in Sunday’s Ghana Premier League Super Clash at the Accra Sports Stadium.
In a statement released on Monday, the club expressed “deep regret” over the incident, which occurred moments after the final whistle. Hearts of Oak acknowledged that the behaviour witnessed did not reflect the values the club stands for, discipline, respect and fair play.
“We unreservedly apologise to the Ghana Football Association, the match officials, our fans, and the general public,” the club said. “We recognize the importance of maintaining the integrity of the game and are taking immediate steps to reinforce that commitment.”
The club confirmed that internal disciplinary processes have already begun regarding the player involved in the confrontation. Management stressed that accountability and professionalism remain central to their culture, adding that preventive measures will be put in place to avoid a repeat of such scenes.
Hearts of Oak also used the statement to thank supporters who attended the match in large numbers, despite the disappointing result.
“Your presence, energy and commitment continue to inspire us, and we do not take it for granted,” the club noted, promising to restore confidence and uphold the highest standards of conduct moving forward.
The Accra giants remain under scrutiny as the GFA’s disciplinary structures assess the fallout from a heated Super Clash that has further intensified pressure on the club’s leadership and technical team.
