It’s About Winning, Not Proving a Point — Kotoko Coach Ahead of Super Clash Against Hearts of Oak

Asante Kotoko head coach Karim Zito says his focus is purely on victory and not personal rivalry as his side prepares to face Hearts of Oak in Sunday’s much-anticipated Ghana Premier League Super Clash.

The encounter, set to take place at the Accra Sports Stadium, is one of the biggest fixtures in Ghanaian football, with both teams looking to make a statement in the 2025/26 season.

Speaking ahead of the game, Zito dismissed suggestions that the match is a personal battle against Hearts of Oak boss Mas-Ud Didi Dramani, stressing that his only concern is securing three points for Kotoko.

“My focus is to win, not to prove anything or beat Didi Dramani,” Zito told reporters. “Beating Hearts of Oak will boost our morale and keep us pushing in the league.”

Kotoko head into the clash unbeaten in their last five games, while Hearts remain undefeated after eight rounds, setting up what promises to be a fiercely contested showdown.

A win for Kotoko would move them closer to the top of the table, while Hearts will be eager to maintain their unbeaten run and assert dominance on home soil.

Fans are expected to fill the Accra Sports Stadium on Sunday as Ghana’s two most successful clubs renew their age-old rivalry in another chapter of the Super Clash.
