Ghana-Born Midfielder Baba Alhassan Switches Allegiance To Uganda, Earns First National Team Call-Up

Ghana-born midfielder Baba Alhassan has officially switched international allegiance to Uganda and received his first call-up for the Cranes’ November friendlies against Chad and Morocco.

The 24-year-old, who was born in Accra, previously represented Ghana at youth level but has now opted to play for Uganda after completing his nationality switch.

Alhassan, who currently plies his trade in Spain’s Segunda División, has impressed with his consistent performances this season, prompting Uganda head coach to include him in the latest squad.

His decision marks a significant boost for the Ugandan national team, which is rebuilding.

Born to a Ghanaian father and a Ugandan mother, Alhassan becomes the latest in a growing list of dual-national players opting to represent Uganda on the international stage.

The Cranes will face Chad before taking on Morocco later this month as they continue preparations for competitive fixtures next year.
