Tottenham defender Micky van de Ven has praised Mohammed Kudus, admitting the team felt the Ghanaian’s absence during their 4-0 Champions League victory over Copenhagen on Tuesday night.
Kudus missed the match due to a minor injury, but his influence was still felt among teammates, who have grown accustomed to his energy and creativity since his summer arrival from West Ham United.
Speaking after the game at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, Van de Ven said the Ghana international has quickly become a key figure in Thomas Frank’s side.
“Mohammed Kudus is an unbelievable player and we missed him in the game against Copenhagen,” Van de Ven told Telecom Asia.
“Hopefully he will be fit for us at the weekend against Manchester United. He’s an important player for us and I don’t know the details of his absence, but hopefully he should be back for us.”
Tottenham’s convincing win over the Danish champions will keep them on course for the Champions League knockout stages. Yet, even with the comfortable scoreline, Van de Ven’s comments highlight just how integral Kudus has become to Spurs’ setup.
The 25-year-old forward has already registered one goal and four assists in 15 appearances this season, earning praise for his pace, technical skill, and creativity in the final third.
Kudus is expected to return soon, with Tottenham preparing for a crucial Premier League clash with Manchester United this weekend, a fixture where his flair could once again prove decisive.
