Re-locate Bourfour market on Techiman-Kumasi highway

Techiman (B/A), Sept. 8, GNA – Residents of Abanim Electoral Area in Techiman have appealed for a re-location of the Bourfour market on the Techiman-Kumasi highway to a new site to save lives.

Nana Donkor Boateng, a former assembly member noted that, the indiscriminate parking of vehicles on both sides of the road during market days posed great danger to pedestrians.

He told Ghana News Agency that, the parking by the drivers on the sides of the road, creates heavy congestion as a result of which, many pedestrians were often knocked down by vehicles.

Nana Boateng cited that a terrible accident involving a truck and a taxi occurred in the area on August 19, this year, when vehicles had parked on both sides of the road.

“If the accident had occurred on a market day, so many lives would have been lost”, he added.

Nana Boateng called on the Omanhene of Offinso, the District Chief Executive, Member of Parliament, Assembly members and stakeholders to expedite action towards the relocation of the market to save lives.
