Oguaa Traditional Council Clarifies Legitimate Traditional Leadership of Abura

The President of the Oguaa Traditional Council, Osabarimba Dr. Kwesi Atta II, has issued a formal statement clarifying the legitimate traditional leadership of Abura, Cape Coast. Speaking during a press release held at the Emitsimadze Palace in Cape Coast, Osabarimba Dr. Kwesi Atta II addressed recent claims and public discussions surrounding the Abura stool, emphasizing the Council’s official position on the matter.

According to him, the attention of the Oguaa Traditional Council had been drawn to ongoing disputes and public commentary regarding who rightfully holds authority over the Abura stool. The Council, he stated, wishes to make it unequivocally clear that there is only one recognized chief and queen mother of Abura under the established traditional and customary structures of the Oguaa Traditional Area.

The legitimate traditional leaders of Abura, Cape Coast, are:

Nana Kodwo Addae II – Chief of Abura

Nana Ekuwa Okutta III – Queen Mother of Abura, Cape Coast

Osabarimba Dr. Kwesi Atta II stressed that any other person or group claiming to hold the Abura stool or represent the traditional leadership of Abura does so without the recognition or endorsement of the Oguaa Traditional Council. He further noted that such actions not only contravene established customary authority but also risk creating unnecessary tension within the community.

The Oguaa Traditional Council therefore urged the general public, governmental institutions, and the media to take due note of this clarification and to accord the necessary respect and recognition to the legitimate chief and queen mother of Abura, Cape Coast.

Osabarimba Dr. Kwesi Atta II reaffirmed the Council’s commitment to maintaining peace, unity, and respect for traditional authority within the Oguaa Traditional Area, adding that the preservation of cultural order and lawful succession remains a top priority of the Council.
