Former Asante Kotoko striker Saddick Adams has defended Albert Amoah’s transfer to Al Ahly Benghazi, urging fans to see football as a business rather than just a game of passion.
Speaking on the topic, Adams called for perspective following Amoah’s departure to the Libyan side, noting that the move benefits both the player and the club financially.
“Let’s educate the fans; football is business,” Adams said. “I know what he’s going to earn there will be enough for him and his family.”
He explained that Kotoko’s decision to accept the deal was a strategic one, highlighting that the transfer fee could play a key role in strengthening the club’s finances.
“Kotoko accepted the deal because they knew it was a good offer. It’s not always about three points. The money from Amoah’s sale should help build the club,” he added.
Amoah’s transfer to Al Ahly Benghazi comes after Kotoko’s exit from the CAF Confederation Cup, prompting the young midfielder to seek new opportunities abroad.
Saddick Adams’ comments reflect a growing recognition within Ghanaian football that player sales can serve as a vital source of revenue for clubs, a shift toward sustainability in an increasingly competitive football economy.
