GOVERNMENT URGED TO INVEST IN INNOVATION, TECHNOLOGY AND ICT

Bibiani-Anhwiaso-Bekwai constituency communication team member, Apam Mohamed, has urged the government to channel resources into innovation, technology, and Information and Communication Technology (ICT).

Speaking on Okyeame Radio’s Adekyee Mu Nsem show with AkuapemHann, he noted that focusing on training more youths in these fields will help create jobs and drive physical development.

He further advised the government to invest in apprenticeships with better implementation, while calling on the dominant political parties in Ghana the NDC and NPP to pursue initiatives that benefit posterity.

Mr Apam also lamented Ghana’s overproduction of lawyers compared to innovators, citing how countries like Japan, Canada, and South Korea are rapidly developing through engineering and innovative programmes.

According to him, lawyers focus on litigation, which does not drive national development or progress.

“We are not saying you shouldn’t venture into law,” he clarified, but we should prioritise grooming more innovators instead of lawyers.

He cited the example of the late Safo Kantanka, a great inventor, noting that neither the NPP nor the NDC supported him.
