Youths cautioned against unscrupulous leaders

Accra, Sept. 6 GNA – Maulvi Wahab Adam, Ameer and Missionary in charge of the Ahmadiyya Muslim Mission, Ghana, has called on the youth not to allow themselves to be used along ethnic and religious lines by unscrupulous leaders for their selfish gains.

He said the history of Africa and other parts of the world abound with examples of people exploiting ethnic and religious sentiments to create fear, suspicion and animosity among different ethnic and religious groups that had resulted in the disturbance of peace and even armed conflicts.

Maulvi Adam said this when he opened the 26th National Annual Rally of the Ahmadiyya Muslim Youth Organisation in Accra.

He said the creation of different ethnic groups was a grand design by an all-wise God to enrich the world with varying ethnic groups living together in mutual respect, peace, harmony and love for one another. “Allah has created mankind into tribes and sub-tribes so that they may recognise one another thus no race, colour or tribe is superior to another,’ he said.

He advised that ethnic diversity should not create tension and conflict but should inspire us to live and work together for the common good of the country.

Hazrat Mirza Masroor Ahmad, Supreme Head of the World Ahmadiyya Muslim Community in a message to Ahmadi Youth in Ghana told them that they had the primary responsibility to help everyone in the country and underscored the need for them to reform their conduct since the future of the community rested in their hands.

He asked them to remain loyal citizens of the country and conduct themselves in accordance with the rules set out by the Electoral Commission, and not to cause any disturbances or break any law during Election 2004.

Representatives from Nigeria and The United Kingdom attended the rally, which attracted about 5,000 participants from across the country. It was on the theme, ‘Unity in Diversity-The Role Of The Youth.’
