Ghana Football Association (GFA) President Kurt Okraku says he remains confident that Asante Kotoko can overturn their first-leg deficit against Moroccan giants Wydad Casablanca in the CAF Confederation Cup.
The Porcupine Warriors suffered a narrow 1-0 defeat to Wydad at the Accra Sports Stadium in the first leg of the second preliminary round last weekend. They now face a daunting return fixture in Casablanca, where they must win to secure qualification to the group stage.
Despite the challenge, Okraku believes head coach Abdul Karim Zito has what it takes to guide the team to a memorable comeback.
“All is not lost; I’m confident Karim Zito can lead Kotoko to overturn the deficit against Wydad AC,” Okraku told reporters ahead of the return leg.
Kotoko progressed to this stage after eliminating Nigeria’s Kwara United, and Okraku insists the team’s fighting spirit gives him hope of another strong performance in Morocco.
The crucial second leg takes place this weekend in Casablanca, with Kotoko aiming to reach the group stage of the CAF Confederation Cup for the first time in four years.
