Former First Lady Nana Konadu Agyeman-Rawlings Passes Away at 76

Former First Lady, Nana Konadu Agyeman-Rawlings, has died at 77. She passed away on Thursday, October 23, 2025, at the Ridge Hospital in Accra.

Although the family and government have not made an official statement, sources close to the family confirmed her passing.

The late Nana Konadu Agyeman-Rawlings was the wife of late former president, Jerry John Rawlings and contributed significantly to his husband rule in the 1990s.

Nana Konadu Agyeman-Rawlings was a prominent figure in Ghanaian politics and social advocacy.

She founded the National Democratic Party (NDP) and was a strong advocate for women’s empowerment and social development through her organization, the 31st December Women’s Movement.

Recently, she attended the funeral rites for the late Asantehemaa, Nana Konadu Yiadom III, and laid wreaths at the Jubilee House to honor public servants who lost their lives in a helicopter accident.
