Politicians asked to place Ghana first

Takoradi, Sept. 6, GNA – Nana Kobina Gyan of the Convention People’s Party (CPP) has called on members of the various political parties, to bear in mind that the interest if Ghana was supreme in all political considerations.

Nana Gyan, CPP Parliamentary Candidate for Abura-Asebu-Kwamankese, charged politicians to refrain from acts that would undermine the peace and security of Ghana and mar the success of Election 2004. He made the call in a fraternal message he delivered on behalf of the CPP at the delegates’ congress of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), at Takoradi at the weekend.

“We as politicians should not allow our ambitions… to plunge Ghana into flames and bloodshed,” he said.

Mr Yaw Asante, Takoradi Constituency Chairman of the ruling New Patriotic Party, called on the political parties to educate their members to ensure free, fair and peaceful elections. He suggested the formation of a Joint Meeting of Constituency Executives of the political parties to brainstorm, on how to ensure violent-free elections.

Mrs Lily Esther Nkansah, Former Western Regional Minister, was elected as the Parliamentary Candidate of the NDC for Takoradi. Se polled 131 votes, as against the 30 votes recorded by her main challenger, Dr Crossby Mochia, a private Medical Practitioner.
