Fire guts Greenhouse Factory at Shai Hills

A fire broke out at the Greenhouse Factory in Shai Hills on Monday, October 13, prompting a swift response from the Ghana National Fire Service.

Rigorous firefighting operations are currently underway, with the situation described as serious.

Four fire stations – Gbetsile, Devtraco, Tema Metro, and Motorway – dispatched teams to battle the blaze.

The extent of the damage and the cause of the fire are yet to be determined.

No information is available on potential casualties.

This incident adds to the growing number of fire outbreaks in Ghana, with 6,436 incidents recorded in 2024, representing a 7.8% increase.

The Greater Accra Region reported the highest number of fires (1,309), followed by the Ashanti Region (1,145).

Despite the rise in fire incidents, the GNFS has successfully saved over GH¢550 million worth of property.
