Breast Cancer awareness Month: Examine your breasts monthly to understand their condition

Madam Florence Effah, the Public Health Nurse at the Dormaa Ahenkro Presbyterian Hospital, has urged women to conduct thorough monthly examinations of their breasts. This practice is essential for developing a comprehensive understanding of the typical condition and appearance of their breasts, thereby aiding in the prevention of breast cancer.

She highlighted certain signs and symptoms associated with breast cancer, emphasizing that regular self-examinations enable individuals to detect any unusual changes or abnormalities at an early stage. This proactive approach significantly contributes to overall health awareness and personal care, thereby mitigating the risks associated with breast cancer.

Madam Florence Effah underscored the importance of early detection in the treatment of breast cancer, emphasizing that not all cases necessitate the complete removal of the affected breast. She highlighted that there are alternative methods available for managing breast cancer cases. Consequently, she urged all women to visit medical facilities for regular check-ups, ensuring that appropriate health measures are implemented to aid those affected by breast cancer.

Madam Dorcas Okyere, a Midwife at the Dormaa Ahenkro Presbyterian Hospital, observed that the Presbyterian Hospital has established a Well Women Clinic specifically aimed at promoting the well-being of women in and around Dormaa Ahenkro. She encourages all women to promptly visit the clinic for diagnosis and to receive the necessary hospital services that will enhance their health status.
