Over 52,000 new cases of Tuberculosis (TB) are reported in Ghana every year.
According to the paper, statistics show that half of the people who get infected die because of lack of access to medical facilities.
Professor Kwadwo Asenso-Okyere, Vice-Chancellor of the University of Ghana, Legon, made these revelations when he chaired the first Public Symposium on Malaria, HIV/AIDS and Tuberculosis, held at the British Council Hall in Accra.
The symposium, under the theme ?Responding to Public Health Problems? is being organised by the Noguchi Memorial Institute for Medical Research (NMIMR) of the College of Health Services of the University of Ghana, Legon, to mark the 25th anniversary celebration of the institute in the field of health sciences and medical research in Ghana.
