Three out of 5 Agenda 111 hospitals fully operational – Ashanti Regional Minister

The Ashanti Regional Minister, Dr. Frank Amoakohene, has announced that three out of the five Agenda 111 hospitals in the region are now fully operational.

According to him, these health facilities—initially commissioned by the government in December 2024—were delayed in becoming functional due to a lack of staff and medical equipment, particularly hospital beds.

“Although the Akufo-Addo government commissioned the three hospitals last December, they were not functional at the time because of logistical and staffing issues,” Dr. Amoakohene explained.

He made this revelation during a media briefing to update the public on the progress of the Agenda 111 initiative in the Ashanti Region.

Dr. Amoakohene also stated that the construction of all five hospitals under Agenda 111 in the region was approximately 95% complete by the end of 2024. The remaining two hospitals are expected to be operational soon, pending final installation of essential medical equipment and recruitment of healthcare professionals.

The Agenda 111 project, launched by the Akufo-Addo administration, aims to significantly expand Ghana’s healthcare infrastructure by building 111 new district and regional hospitals across the country.
