Agyensaim not happy with assemblies’ failure to access cement

Cape Coast, Sept 2, GNA – Nana Prah Agyensaim VI, the Executive Chairman of the GHACEM Foundation and a member of the Council of State, has expressed concern about some district assemblies not being able to apply for the allocation of cement being donated by the foundation to help improve infrastructure in their areas.

He said this had resulted in some regions getting very few allocations and called on the assemblies which have not availed themselves of the opportunity “to be up and doing”.

Nana Agyensaim said this when he presented bags of cement to 11 communities and institutions in the Central Region.

They included Assin Ama, the Catholic Hospital at Apam, the University of Cape Coast Primary School, the Breman Asikuma primary and junior secondary schools and the Bretuo Training Centre at Assin Foso. He said the foundation had so far donated 5,065 bags of cement worth about 250 million cedis to 52 communities and institutions in the Central Region and 75,000 bags valued at about 3.5 billion cedis have been donated nationwide.

Ms Abena Konadu Agyeman, Communications Manager at GHACEM, said the region was among those that had received the largest donations from the Foundation.

She appealed to the beneficiaries to use the cement for the purpose for which it was given and expressed regret that during one of their visits to beneficiary communities she saw 100 bags of meant for the building of a clinic unused.

Nana Amoakwa Buadu VII, Omanhene of the Asikuma Traditional Area, thanked the Foundation for the cement.
