Akokonti-Odumase community raise funds for electrification project

Akokonti-Odumase (B/A) Sept. 1, GNA – The people of Akokonti-Odumase in the Nkoranza District, netted 20 million cedis, at a fund-raising rally in support of the town’s electrification project, estimated to cost 80 million cedis.

Mr Kwame Ampofo-Twumasi, the District Chief Executive (DCE), commended the people for their initiative and said the District Assembly would support the project with low-tension poles. He cautioned against acts that could mar the success of Election 2004.

Mr Amoako Asante, the Assembly Member for the community, said the people were contributing 50,000 cedis a man and 30,000 cedis a woman, towards the project. Nana Adu Boffour, the Chief called on non-resident citizens to visit home frequently to support development projects.

In another development, the Nkoranza District Assembly has honoured the DCE, Mr Ampofo-Twumasi at its Second Ordinary Session for his commitment to hard work.

Okatakyie Agyeman-Kudom 1V, Omanhene of Nkoranza Traditional Area commended the Assembly members for their spirit of unity and cooperation.
